The Coronavirus crisis has completely changed our daily routine. Even after restrictions are easing in the fourth phase of Unlock India, many of us are still struggling with this new way of living.
Since this viral disease has hit our nation, some of us have become more health conscious while others have drastically reduced their physical activity while cooped up inside. However, as we return back to work, it is the time to prepare ourselves and get used to the new normal amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
This time we have come up with some great tips that will help you to overcome any challenges that obstruct your path of stepping back to the regular schedule.
Here’s how you can embrace new ways of living:
1. Maintain Healthy Lifestyle
Lockdown has been an opportunity for many of us to acquire healthy habits like cooking a healthy meal, exercising or performing mindful activities. As many institutions and offices are reopening now, we might get equipped with work and forget to keep up with those new found habits. Having said that, try to maintain and continue the old routine. Do take out some time to maintain these healthy habits that will help you to stay fit and safe even after every restriction of COVID-19 will be over.
2. Keep Yourself Socially Distanced
You might need to step out of the house because of your work commitments. Staying at home for a long period can arouse anxiety when you do go out into crowded places. There are people out there who may be violating necessary measures to slow down the spread of the virus that can make you more tense. But as long as you are maintaining social distance and wearing personal protective equipment there is no need to panic.
3. Meeting Friends And Family
Since we are now allowed to meet our friends and family members, There are certain things that we have to keep in mind. The rules of engaging with people have changed due to COVID-19. In order to protect the vulnerable and reduce the risk of transmission of this virus, you need to follow a few actions to protect yourself and others. Here are a few of them:
- Do not host a large social gathering
- Maintain social distance if people visit you
- If someone at your home is feeling unwell then request your guest to postpone the visit and vice versa
- Avoid gathering in public places like cafés or restaurants.
- Follow every precautionary measure if outsiders visit you or you are going to someone’s place
4. Break Bad Habits
Some of us have developed healthy habits to fight off the virus effectively, however there will be some who have developed bad habits as well like binging on sugary junk food, not following any physical regime, spending excess time on social media or Netflix etc. If you have got used to unhealthy practices then let me tell you that it’s the time to have a fresh start. Take baby steps to follow a healthier routine which comprises of the things mentioned below:
- Follow any workout regime regularly that you like for at least 60min a day
- Eat healthy food which includes immunity-boosting food like spinach, garlic, ginger, sweet potatoes, orange, watermelon, pineapple, turmeric, etc.
- Indulge in healthy snacking for weight management
- Limit your time on social media
- Enjoy a good sleep of 7-9 hours to wake up energized and in a good mood the next day
- Stay hydrated – drink coconut water, chemical-free juices, lemon water, lassi etc. to prevent dehydration
5. Keep Track of Health
Practice self-tracking of your own health and everyone in your house frequently. It is an important step to stay safe and protected. Take virtual health-checkups to ensure good health of yours and your beloved ones. Also, take the health of your house helpers very seriously. If anyone at their home is unwell then ask them to take leave. Beware them regarding the right information about COVID-19. Make sure they do not believe in any myths and misinformation.
6. Choose to Stay Positive
Getting back on track in the current circumstances will be daunting for many. It can take a toll on your mental health if you don’t know how to cope with it. Therefore, it’s essential to stay positive and look toward the positive side of the global outbreak. Think about the healthy habits that you have induced any creative skill that you have developed and the time you spent with your dear ones. It’s unforgettable. Be thankful for whatever you have that is helping you to survive these challenging times.
